We are adding more destinations to Social Relay. Almost all of them are included in what you already pay. Here is what is coming and why one of them is different.
Social Relay publishes to four places today: your website, your Facebook Page, your Instagram account and your LinkedIn profile.
That covers most small businesses. But not all of them, and not forever — so we are adding more.
What is coming, and it is included
We are working on Google Business Profile, which for a lot of local businesses will end up being the most valuable one of the lot. We have written about that separately.
Threads is next in line after that.
And there will be others as they become worth doing. Our test is simple and slightly unglamorous: would a real small business actually use it? We are not adding platforms so we can put more logos on the website. If your customers are not there, neither are we.
Every one of these is included in your subscription. Not a tier, not an add-on, not a “pro” plan. If you are paying for Social Relay, you get the new destinations when they arrive, and your price does not change.
That is deliberate. We sell one thing at one price, and we would like to keep it that way.
The exception, and why
There is one that will work differently: X — the one everybody still accidentally calls Twitter.
X charges developers for access to post. It is not free for us the way the others are, and it is charged per volume rather than one flat fee. So if we folded it into the standard price, every customer would be paying a little more to cover a platform most of them do not use.
That is not fair, so we are not doing it.
Instead X will be a paid add-on — available if you want it, priced to cover what it costs us, and completely invisible if you do not. If you never touch it, your subscription stays exactly as it is.
We would rather be straight about that than quietly raise everyone’s price and hope nobody notices.
And a lot more besides
Destinations are not the only thing being built. There is a fair bit coming around making the whole thing quicker — review invitations, better help when a connection breaks, and a few things that will make more sense when you see them than when we describe them.
We will write about each as it lands.
