The hardest part is not the posting, it is thinking of something. Nine things any small business can post this week, none of which require an idea.
The single most common thing we hear: “I would post, but I never know what to say.”
Fair. But it is worth knowing that you are trying to solve the wrong problem. You are not trying to be interesting. You are trying to look like a business that is currently operating.
Nobody is reading your posts for entertainment. They are glancing at them while deciding whether to call you. The bar is far lower than you think.
Here are nine things you can post this week without having a single original idea.
1. The job you just finished
A photo, and one line about what it was. “New bathroom in Wynnum, finished today.” Done. This is the single best post any trade or service business can make, and it takes ten seconds.
2. Before and after
Same job, two photos. People cannot look away from these. If you only ever do one type of post, make it this one.
3. The thing you get asked constantly
“No, you do not need to empty the room before we start.” “Yes, we can work around the dog.” Every question a customer asks you twice is a post, and it saves you answering it a third time.
4. A mistake you see all the time
“Nine out of ten leaking taps we see are this one washer.” Genuinely useful, makes you look like you know your trade, and costs you no work at all.
5. Who you are
A photo of you, or the team, or the van. People hire people. A face on the page does more than any amount of clever wording.
6. What you are booked out until
“Booked through to the end of the month.” That is not bragging, it is social proof — and it quietly tells people to get in early.
7. Something seasonal
Storm season, end of financial year, school holidays, the first cold snap. Whatever your customers are about to need, say it a fortnight before they think of it.
8. A thank you
Someone left a nice review, or a repeat customer came back. Say so. Warm, human, thirty seconds.
9. What you are not
“We do not do commercial work — we are residential only.” Sounds like turning business away. It is actually the fastest way to get better-matched enquiries.
Pick one and do it now
Genuinely. Not later this week. Photo, one line, post.
If the reason you are hesitating is that doing it properly means posting the same thing to four different places, that is the part Social Relay handles. One box, one photo, one press, and it lands everywhere.
The idea was never the hard bit. The repetition was.
